Binnenhof


This is the Binnenhof in The Hague around 1300, drawn for a history lesson. It still is the seat of our government. Of course a lot of buildings have been added to the court since 1300 (or taken down, like the wall) - and it is now surrounded by the city of The Hague. The big building still exists as the Ridderzaal (Knight's Hall). The big pond too is still existing, as the Hofvijver (Court's Pond). Compare to the photo below, that is (unfortunately) taken from the opposite angle.

Dit is het Binnenhof in Den Haag zo rond het jaar 1300, nog altijd de zetel van onze regering. Er zijn natuurlijk veel gebouwen bijgekomen sinds 1300 (en gesloopt, zoals de muur) - en het Binnenhof is nu omsingeld door de stad Den Haag. Het grote gebouw bestaat nog altijd als de Ridderzaal. De grote vijver bestaat ook nog: de Hofvijver. Vergelijk het met de foto hieronder, die genomen is vanuit de tegenoverliggende hoek van de tekening.
