A few months ago, 'The Duke', an album by my favourite musician Joe Jackson was released. It is an album with songs and compositions of Duke Ellington. Although I am not a jazz fan, I do enjoy the album - maybe because the album has not the typical sound I associate with jazz. In many of the songs echoes from other Joe Jackson songs can be heard - increasing the pleasure of listening to the album. In november, Joe Jackson will tour in the Netherlands - the tickets are already on my desk. As a last thing, I want to mention the beautiful artwork of the cd cover by Ed Sherman.
Een paar maanden geleden verscheen 'The Duke', een cd van mijn favoriete zanger Joe Jackson, met liedjes en composities van Duke Ellington. Ik ben geen echte jazz-liefhebber, maar ik vind het een goede plaat - misschien wel omdat het niet de typische sound heeft die ik associeer met jazz. In veel van de nummers zijn echo's van Joe Jackson-nummers te horen, wat het luisterplezier verhoogt. In november komt Joe Jackson naar ons land - de kaartjes liggen hier al klaar. Ten slotte wil ik nog wijzen op het prachtige artwork van de cd-hoes door Ed Sherman.
