Lori Nix

These are two photographs made by Lori Nix: 'Majestic' (2006) and 'Library' (2007), both part of her series called 'The City'. The scenes are hand built scale models which have been photographed (sometimes with a different lighting to make night scenes). Imagine the amount of work that goes into these pictures! It takes seven months to build a scene. I love the rich details and the sad state of neglect that appears in her photographs.

De scènes zijn handgemaakte schaalmodellen die worden gefotografeerd (soms met een ander belichting om nachtscènes te maken). Stel je de enorme hoeveelheid werk eens voor! Het kost zeven maanden om één scène te bouwen. Ik hou erg van de rijke details en de droevige staat van verwaarlozing die spreekt uit haar foto's.
