I make my comic 'Van Zanten' for the economist magazine ESB. It is a magazine that focuses on thorough, academic economic and statistical research. My comic has to refer to the subject of the head article. I like working for them, because the articles have a wide range of topics. ESB is not a 'news' magazine... sometimes to my frustration, as shown in my cartoon above. In a week where there was breaking news on the economic front (Germany doing well, Greece doing worse, the president of the IMF arrested), the main article was a highly academic study of the learning results of students in areas where the number of schools was reduced.
Ik maak mijn strip 'Van Zanten' voor het economenblad ESB. Dit is een blad dat zich richt op gedegen, academisch economisch en statistisch onderzoek. Mijn stripje moet een link hebben met het hoofdartikel. Vanwege de verscheidenheid aan onderwerpen is dat erg leuk om te doen. ESB is zeker geen 'nieuws'-blad... soms wel tot mijn frustratie, zoals in het stripje hierboven. In een week vol 'breaking news' aan het economisch front, ging het hoofdartikel over een zeer academische studie naar leerprestaties van leerlingen in gebieden met een teruglopend aantal scholen.
